The design process begins with a conversation about the different options. We can create cornices, valances, Roman shades, draperies, and, of course, coordinating cushions, pillows and more. We have a variety of fabrics and manufacturers which helps us make precise recommendations based on the environment of the house. For example, if the client has kids and/or pets a more durable fabric would be best. For windows hit with direct sunlight we recommend a high quality liner to protect the fabric and reflect the sun. There are even options for flannel lining to keep heat in. We discuss the client’s vision, perhaps reviewing pictures of ideas, determine the types of treatment desired and then review the space and take measurements. As long as fabric is not on back order the whole process can take 2 weeks to complete.
Bold colors to coordinate with room accessories and walls can make a room bright and cheerful while darker colors can be more subtle and less dominating. There are many things to keep in mind when choosing the right patterns, colors and shades. When clients are very clear about the colors they would like to see we can direct them to the right fabric and hardware. Sometimes, however, our clients are unsure what colors to work with in which case we have interior decorators that we recommend. Our decorators come in to evaluate the space, furniture and style and provide design ideas and tips. We are very confident in the choices our decorators recommend and our clients have been more than pleased with the results after working with them.
